The death of Anne F. Sutton on 18th June 2022 has left an enormous gap in medieval scholarship. She was an outstanding historian and a great friend to many, and especially to the Yorkist History Trust. She was a founding trustee and remained active and engaged with our activities, projects and publications until the very end. Anne was delighted that the trust published her last monograph The King’s Work: The Defence of the North under the Yorkist Kings 1471–85 (Shaun Tyas Publications: Donington, 2021) which is a tour de force in primary research.

In consultation with her executors, the Yorkist History Trust have set up a special ‘Anne F. Sutton Memorial Fund’ for donations which we can use specifically to support projects and/or publications which align closely with Anne’s own interests. The trustees are extremely grateful to Anne’s executors for this and for supporting a cause which was of such great importance to her.

Should you wish to contribute to this special fund please send a cheque payable to the Yorkist History Trust and include a covering letter with your name, postal address, and email address for acknowledgement. Cheques should be sent to:

The Yorkist History Trust
P. O. Box 6302

Alternatively, if you would like to make a donation by bank transfer, please contact our Treasurer, Dave Wells, at yht@snd23.com.

The Yorkist History Trust is registered for Gift Aid so if you are a UK taxpayer please consider completing a Gift Aid declaration as this will enable the Trust to boost contributions by 25 pence for every £1 that is donated.

The trustees are grateful for all that Anne did for us and for being a stalwart in Ricardian scholarship. She is greatly missed but her memory lives on.
